The District is horrified to report that a swastika was found scribbled in one of our buildings hallways. This is a hate crime. Lawrence has zero tolerance for hate. We have contacted the 4th Precinct to report this terrible discovery.
The pain caused by this is so contrary to our mission statement and the kindnesses I see reflected by the members of this beautiful community.
It is terrible to report such an incident, but necessary to engage in conversation that dismantles hate.
Your support is always appreciated.
Dr. Pedersen

Go Golden Tornadoes!!!

Lawrence,
Forgive the typos - it’s been a long two years!
We received guidance late last night that masks on buses are OPTIONAL . Children are no longer required to wear a mask in school or on the bus. Anyone who wants to continue to use to wear a mask is certainly welcome to.
Thank you again and wishing you a wonderful Wednesday
Dr.Pedersen

Lawrence Families,
Today was the last school day that masks were required! Starting tomorrow it is your option to have your child wear a mask in school. Guidance on buses has not been given, so for now please ask your child to wear their mask on the bus. The Lawrence community has been incredible during these last two years . Thank you for all you have done. Let us be hopeful that only good days are ahead.
With Pride,
Dr. Pedersen

Dear Lawrence,
We are returning from winter break tomorrow with news regarding masks. Today the Governor announced the mask mandate for schools will be lifted as of WEDNESDAY. Masks will become optional for students, staff, and visitors as of Wednesday. Your ever present cooperation and patience during the pandemic has been amazing and appreciated. Lawrence is an outstanding community.
I can’t wait to see the smiles of our learners.
With respect,
Dr. Pedersen

Good evening Lawrence Families,
The district is on winter break this upcoming week. However, we will be distributing rapid test kits Tuesday morning from 7-9 am at the high school. If you need a kit, please stop by. Kits are also available from our school nurses when we return to school.
Wishing you a good winter break.
Dr. Pedersen

Today was the 100th day of school! It surely brought lots of joy and counting. The UPK students created a Valentine bulletin board collage with family created collages. 100 day exercises had each child doing 10 different exercises at 10 different stations. Fun day!

Good evening Lawrence,
Thank you for your patience as we awaited clarification on changes to the mask mandate. The appellate court has issued a ‘stay’. This continues masks as mandatory for students, staff, and visitors to schools. The next step in court take place on Friday and as always I will keep you informed if anything changes.
Thank you again for being Lawrence Strong .

Lawrence Families,
I hope you and your families are well. There is much talk about changing mandates for schools in regards to masks and quarantine. At the current time we are maintaining the mask mandate. We are reducing close contact quarantine of unvaccinated individuals to 5 days, expecting that Nassau County will adopt the NYS guideline. Vaccinated individuals do not quarantine. If the contact quarantine changes further, as indicated today by the Governor, I will let you know.
For now , any quarantined individual may return to school 5 days from exposure.
Thank you for your patience and compliance as we get through these ongoing changes to ordered protocols
Dr.Pedersen
