LAWRENCE, NEW YORK (OCTOBER 2022)—Lawrence Primary School proudly hosted its Annual Literacy Night recently. Over 200 families participated in the event, designed to empower students to set goals and grow as readers.
“Annual Literacy Night is an important and beneficial event we hold each year as it offers parents, guardians, and family members an opportunity to learn about the ways they can assist their children in reaching goals in reading both at home and in school," noted Kristen McLoughlin, Principal of Lawrence Primary School.
The focus of Literacy Night is to encourage Lawrence Primary School students as readers. Students are able to take home books from the Book Fairies, a non-profit organization that donates books to schools to increase literacy engagement. Families are also able to sign up for a library card and learn about all of the programs and services that the Peninsula Public Library offers.
