LAWRENCE, NEW YORK (NOVEMBER 2025)—The Lawrence School District is proud to announce the grand reopening of the newly renovated gymnasium at the Lawrence Middle School 195 Campus, marking the completion of a project that blends modern upgrades with the school’s rich history.
What was once the “old gym” has been transformed through a well-executed renovation that expanded the playing area, redesigned the lockers, and added air conditioning to enhance comfort—all while preserving the integrity of the original flooring that holds decades of school pride and memories.
“We are not just celebrating a facility,” said Board of Education President Heshy Blachorsky. “We are celebrating a renewed commitment to our kids—to their health, their growth, and our community.”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held during a recent Board of Education meeting, was led by Murray Forman, former Board President who first set the vision for the renovation. His leadership helped lay the foundation for a project that modernizes the space while honoring its legacy. To celebrate the reopening, Lawrence Elementary School classes were invited to the gym for a special walkthrough and mini ribbon-cutting celebration. Students were excited to explore the updated space and see firsthand the thoughtful features that make the gym both functional and inspiring.
The newly renovated Lawrence Middle School gymnasium is now officially open and ready to welcome students, athletes, and the community for years to come.
