As technology has advanced, cameras have evolved from devices that people used occasionally to document special events into tools that people use to capture photos and videos of their everyday lives, communicate with others in real time, create art, and so much more! Children learned how to navigate various types of camera and discovered strategies for taking a good picture.

This week we celebrated Read Across America! Each day we read a different story and focused on a different author. On Monday we wore red and white for Dr. Seuss, Tuesday we wore our favorite colors and read the Rainbow Fish, Wednesday we wore our pajamas and read the Napping House, Thursday we wore green and read the Very Hungry Caterpillar and Friday we read It's Okay to Make Mistakes and wore blue and gold for school spirit.

We are currently learning about important people and celebrating Black History Month. Mae Jemison is famous for being the first African American woman in space. She was a NASA astronaut, physician, engineer, and educator. Ruby Bridges is an American civil rights activist who was the first Black child to attend an all-white school in the South.

Happy World Read Aloud Day! Today is a day we celebrate reading and promote literacy.
All across America classrooms tuned in and listened to stories being read by the author. We listened to No David! by David Shannon and We Who Produce Pearls by Joanna Ho. Children were able to choose a book or two to take home to read with their families. "A book is a dream that you hold in your hand.'' - Neil Gaiman
