Kosher Food Distribution

Dear Parents,

PICK UP AUGUST 10th Form must be filled out, SUBMITTED and brought to distribution.

The Lawrence School District is pleased to be continuing the the distribution of kosher meal boxes.

The distribution will take place on Wednesdays 2:30-7:30pm. Pick up will take place at the Lawrence Middle School, 195 Broadway, Lawrence, NY 11559. 

The Lawrence Public Schools will resume its distribution of food to children 18 and under who live in Nassau County (excluding Great Neck). To be eligible Children may not be receiving food from any federal child nutrition program (not just those participating in NSLP). It cannot be stressed enough that duplication is absolutely forbidden. By signing up and picking up food you are assuring the Lawrence School District you have not picked up from any other location.

There is a new sign up form which was designed to ensure no duplication and only eligible zip codes may participate. For your convenience please utilize the same phone number every week.  

ONLY REGISTER ONCE. Please make sure all names and addresses are spelled correctly and entirely.

 

The eligibility requirements: 

·    Children 1-18 years

·    Every child must be registered

·    You must live in Nassau County (excluding Great Neck)

 

The intention of the expansion of the food program is that all children eat. IT IS NOT based on financial needs.– If you meet the qualifications above, ALL children are eligible and are encouraged to sign up.

Boxes will be distributed based on number of eligible children. Pick up in Lawrence is from195 Broadway, Lawrence, Please do not block any driveways or the entrance to Sutton Park.

There are local camps and institutions that do receive food from the USDA, please consult your child’s nutrition provider prior to signing up.

1)  Have a printed email response sheet with a QR code PLACE IT ON THE DASHBOARD prior to entering the driveway!

2)  Have a clean and clear trunk. (You may leave an empty box for the milk)

3) Do not get out of your car

Lawrence School District – Food Distribution

 

In The Package:

Milk

Grains: every package contains at least the amount of two servings of grain per child per day. One serving for breakfast, one serving for lunch, per day.

Proteins: every package contains at least the amount of one serving of protein per child per day, intended to be used for lunch.

Fruits and Vegetables: every package contains at least the amount of one and a quarter cups of fruits and vegetables per child per day. Half a cup for breakfast, three quarters of a cup for lunch.

Food safety & Heating Directions:

Please keep the following items refrigerated between 37 and 40 degrees

Eggs, Cheese, Milk, Juice, Chicken Fingers, Yogurt.

After cutting fruits and vegetables, please keep them refrigerated between 37 and 40 degrees

Please heat or reheat the Chicken Fingers & Eggs on the stovetop or in a preheated oven or Toaster oven @ 350 degrees until it reaches the internal temperature of 165 degrees (approximately 5 to 7 minutes)
