News from Mr. Ballantyne

All students who are registered for the SAT or ACT in December, please see Mr. Ballantyne in order to sign up for free online tutoring classes no later than November 8th.

Congratulations  to LHS Junior Jose Garcia! 

Jose Garcia has been selected as one of the Latino Leaders Scholarship recipients, on behalf of the NY Mets and the Adelphi University College Credit Advantage Program. This scholarship will cover his tuition for the LIU Post High School Scholars Survey of Statistics course .Jose will also be invited to attend a dinner to be held at CitiField to celebrate the New York Mets Latino Leadership Scholars and recognize all of his hard work and achievements.

Congratulations to LH S Junior Natalie Bran!

Today is the day! Shrek auditions will be held today after school in the Chorus room! Slots are still available so come on down!  Again, the Shrek auditions are today after school. Sing anything you  like or something from the show.  See you there!

 

 

Dance Honor Society – Advisor – Ms. Leila Sales

Introducing Spooky Boo’s! Don’t miss out! The dance Honors society will be selling spooky Boo’s all next week.  Spook your boo thang or friend or best friend or teacher or even yourself with goodies and treats to feast upon.  The Spooky Boo’s only cost $3.00.  You must have exact change.  Don’t forget when you order the Spooky Boo give the persons number that you ordered for, make sure the person you order for has a working cell phone and can receive messages.  On Halloween your boo thang will be surprised by a special text telling them to come pickup their Spooky Boo.  Don’t miss out, Spook your Boo this Halloween with a Spooky Boo from the Dance Honors Society!

 

Girls Varsity Soccer Team – Advisor – Ms. Brandow

Congratulations to the girls Varsity Soccer Team on winning their final game of the season 6-2 against Roosevelt.  Senior Samantha Wilks scored 2 goals and additional goals were score by Senior Brianna Ramirez, Sophomore Aziah Santizo, Freshman Andie Adams and Fresman Gaby Cruz.  Great season girls!

Key Club – Advisor – Mr. Mayo

This Halloween, October 31st, Key Club wants your Blood!!!

It’s the annual Lawrence HS Blood Drive.

The Blood Drive will take place on Thursday, October 31st from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm

All donating students must bring their student ID in order to donate.  16 year old students must have a parent permission form to donate. Forms are available from Mr. Mayo or Key Club Officers.  Please donate, each donation saves two lives.  Thank you from Key Club!

 

Latin American Club – Ms. Torres and Mr. Avalos

Today the Latin American Club has an important meeting regarding the upcoming events.  Please come to room 224 at 2:40 pm.  Hope to see you there!

Safe Treat or Treat – Advisors – Jessica McComsey and Mr. Mugno

On Thursday, October 24th from 5-7 pm, the National Honor Society is hosting their annual “Safe Trick or Treat” at Lawrence high School.  The admission is $5. per family and all proceeds will be donated to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation.  Please keep in mind, no child will be admitted into the school without a parent.  Come dressed in your costumes for a fun night with family and friends at Lawrence High School’s “Safe Trick or Treat”. Senior News

Seniors, your officers proudly present a yummy senior class fall breakfast and fundraiser.

Let’s make our year more affordable and fun!!  The fee is $5.00 and the date is Friday, November 1st, from 7:40 am – 8:35 am in the School Cafeteria.

 

A representative from HOFSTRA University will be in the Guidance Office Conference Room today, 4TH Period to discuss admission process and scholarship opportunities.  If you are interested in attending, you will need to sign up in the guidance office prior to the meeting.  If you have a class during that time, you will need to have your teacher sign a permission slip which you can also obtain from the guidance office.

Film Media Club – Advisor – Mr. Walker

Hey do you enjoy making Youtube Videos?

Would like to learn how to use state of the art film and editing equipment?  Want to make your own sports highlight videos?  Well the digital media club is the place to be!  The club will meet Thursday, at 2:40 pm in room 331 or see Mr. Walker.

 

 

 

Boys Varsity Soccer Team – Advisor – Mr. Leary

Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Soccer team! They have made it to the playoffs and their 1st game is Friday afternoon. We are so proud of them!

 

Talent Show – Advisor – Ms. Kind

The Talent show will be coming up soon.  It’s a night where ANY student can perform in a show.  They can dance, sing, play an instrument, perform a comedy act and whatever you would like to do.  It’s run by the Junior Student Government but not only for Juniors to perform in.

The cost is $5.00 but right now auditions are coming up.  They are on Friday, October 25th, right after school, in the Little Theater. If you have an emergency, see Ms. Kind.  She will rearrange another time for you to audition but only in an emergency.
