www.arborday.com - Official Arbor Day site. Did you know that the USA does not have a national tree? The National Arbor Day Foundation is in the process of holding a vote for a new National Tree.  Go to this site to learn about the tree candidates and to cast a vote for the tree you would like to see as our national tree.  Voting deadline: midnight on April 27. (Number One School students will have the opportunity to vote with their classes. Ask your teacher for more information)

www.geobop.com - Excellent website about State and World statistics.   Includes links to a “GeoZoo” (animal facts), “PaleoZoo” (earth science, state soils, prehistory), and “Symbols”.

www.treeguide.com - Interesting teachers’ guide to trees.  I recommend going to “superlatives” or “tree news.”

www.wisc.edu/botit/dendrology - Not a fancy website, but use it to see some pictures of trees.  At the bottom of the page, choose “Access by common name”. Then click on the name of a tree to see a picture of it.  Use the Back button to choose another tree.

www.encarta.com - Use this encyclopedia to search for tree names.

www.canfor.com/treeschool - The Canadian Forestry Association provides lesson plans, a forestry library, and a kids’ section for a few games and ideas about forestry. Check out the “Kids Zone”, “Classroom”,  or the “Library.”

www.forestry.about.com - Interesting site for adults, mostly. All about forestry!
