Work Session/Special Meeting

Tuesday, June 5, 2007

 

The Work Session/Special meeting of the Lawrence Union Free School District Board of Education was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by Asher Mansdorf, President. Upon motion by Pamela Greenbaum and seconded by David Sussman, the Board immediately entered executive session for the purpose of discussing real estate and personnel.

 

At 8:22 p.m. upon motion by David Sussman and seconded by Michael Hatten, the Board left executive session and immediately reconvened the work session.

 

Pledge Of Allegiance was led by Dr. Asher Mansdorf.

 

The following Board members were present: Asher Mansdorf, President, David Sussman, Vice President, Murray Forman, Pamela Greenbaum, Michael Hatten, and Stanley Kopilow.

 

Absent was Uri Kaufman.

 

Also present were: Dr. John T. Fitzsimons, Superintendent,  Mrs. Elsie Friedman, Assistant Superintendent for Business, Dr. Vicki Karant, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction,         Mr. Albert D’Agostino, School Counsel.

 

Mr. Robert Brisbane and Ms. Gail Degen ofBOCES presented a food service management system.  This system is in place in nineteen school districts.  The system has point of sale features that can be a stand alone system or part of a network system.  They maintain the information of students with free and reduced lunch.  Prepaid lunches, cost of meals, how many meals sold, generates reports, training sessions for staff.  Bids will be opend for food service point of sale systems on June 21.  There is approximately 42% aidable rate through BOCES. The equipment belongs to BOCES therefore it is maintained through BOCES.

Motion to leave work session and enter public and unanimously accepted session was made by Pamela Greenbaum and seconded by Michael Hatten.

Upon motions and seconds, unless noted, the vote was unanimously accepted.

 

Upon motion by Pamela Greenbaum and seconded by Stanley Kopilow, the following resolution was unanimously accepted as presented.

 

Resolved that the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools and subject to the execution of the annexed agreement, hereby appoints Susan Kosser as Interim director of pupil Personnel Services of the Lawrence Union free School district in accordance with the terms and provisions of the proposed agreement annexed hereto which provides for a per diem rate of $750.00 with no benefits; and it is further Resolved that upon

 

 

the prior execution of the annexed agreement by Susan Kosser and an authorized representative of the association of Lawrence Administrators (ALA), the Superintendent of Schools is thereupon authorized to execute said agreement.
