Splatter Paint Day

On October 17th, 2008 the students, faculty and staff of the Number 6 Elementary School in the Lawrence Public School District came together on the school lawn to create splatter paint t-shirts in celebration of the upcoming National Red Ribbon Week.  Dr. Karen Mackler, School Psychologist and Art Teacher, Amy Salerno were inspired to create a learning experience that would bring this year’s Red Ribbon Week theme, “Make Your Life A Work of Art- Stay Drug Free” to life. With the cooperation and coordination of Principal, Mrs. Erin Malone, Social Worker, Mrs. Leanne Diedrich, Director of Art Mrs. Anne Young and the faculty, staff, families and students of the Number Six School each student was able to create a splatter painted t-shirt. The artful t-shirts will be worn during Red Ribbon Week, October 18th-26th as a symbol of making positive life choices to sustain their healthy minds and bodies.
